42 Things

  1. I bought a house in December 2008 and since then I have personally fixed every toilet in the house.  Need your fill valve replaced? I am your gal.
  2. As a new homeowner, I love that the spare room is the STUDIO. How sweet is that? I filled it full of craft stuff, too, ahahaha.
  3. In fact, one wall of that room is the Yarn Wall: an Expedit bookshelf from Ikea filled to the brim with sock yarn and knitting books:

  4. Besides knitting, I also crochet and weave.
  5. I actually really love weaving, and hope to do a lot more of it in the future.
  6. I like photography a lot, and I’m a sucker for a good macro setting.
  7. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Drawing.  I also studied computer graphics and book binding rather intensively.
  8. The book binding TA looked like Jude Law. I swear it.
  9. I lived in Texas for five years, where I met some of the best people anyone could ever hope to know – good friends Julie, Tara, Cindy, Daphne and MORE. Seriously, Texas people are the best in the land!
  10. Not that I don’t love my California friends. Holla, Malv, Sarah, etc.!
  11. My current favorite TV shows are Dexter and True Blood.  I apparently like the blood and guts.
  12. Speaking of blood and guts, my favorite channel is ID or Investigation Discovery, which is all crime documentary all the time.
  13. I have DirecTV and I LOVE IT.
  14. I finally got a Wii this year.  I’m allowed one stupid expensive toy a year, and so this year it was a Wii. (Last year was my loom.)
  15. My sister Abby quilts like a champ, and made the quilt that is on my bed. Colors of the ocean, woo hoo!
  16. I have a strange fascination with little people.
  17. I hate unloading the dishwasher with a passion exceeded only by my
  18. EVERLASTING HATRED OF THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND.
  19. Bugs don’t bother me.  I was cured of any bug issues when I lived in Texas – I mean… the cockroaches can FLY, people! They totally don’t here in California.
  20. I am unashamed to admit that my favorite band is Coldplay.
  21. I also love Travis, Death Cab, Keane, The Rasmus, Imogen Heap, Delerium, Matthew Sweet, etc.
  22. I love all of Jim Butcher’s books (Codex Alera and Dresden Files)
  23. I love vintage style stuff.
  24. Except for rings and a few select bracelets, I only wear jewelry that I’ve made.
  25. I work primarily in mixed media (chain, stone, glass, etc.)
  26. My favorite beer is Dos Equis.
  27. I don’t like wearing nail polish on my fingernails, but I like it on my toes.
  28. I’ve never had a pedicure, and I feel like I’m really missing out.
  29. I really like the Lord of Rings movies but I can’t get into the books (go figure).
  30. I do not approve of fanfic (but can’t really hold it against the people who do, you know?)
  31. I do heart money.
  32. I love going to the library.
  33. I finally got a passport and am hardcore excited about flinging myself all around the world. (Watch out, the South Pacific! :P)
  34. My ears are triple pierced.
  35. I like zombies a little more than necessary.
  36. I like robots a lot, too.
  37. District 9 is an excellent movie, everyone should go see it.
  38. I want a cupcake.
  39. I have a newly discovered love of Thai food. Mmmmm, yummmm.
  40. My favorite is red curry.
