{"id":257,"date":"2010-06-11T10:25:21","date_gmt":"2010-06-11T17:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/melissaruth.com\/blog\/?p=257"},"modified":"2010-06-24T12:19:25","modified_gmt":"2010-06-24T19:19:25","slug":"hey-look-at-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/melissaruth.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/hey-look-at-that\/","title":{"rendered":"Hey Look At That"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was whining yesterday on Twitter about being bored, so when my longtime pal Sam from New Zealand called me on it and instructed me to &#8220;knit something&#8221; I did what anyone else in my position would do:<\/p>\n<p>I took a nap.<\/p>\n<p>And then I finished a project that had been slightly languishing on the needles with only a few more rows to go.<\/p>\n<p>I took this picture earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Annis by Pynnski, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pynnski\/4691382530\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4060\/4691382530_3ee8bf2390.jpg\" alt=\"Annis\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I started this project about a week ago.  It&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/knitty.com\/ISSUEss10\/PATTannis.php\" target=\"_blank\">Annis<\/a> from the new Knitty &#8220;surprises&#8221;. It&#8217;s an interesting shawl construction that has you knit the bottom edge and then using a series of short rows, much like the bottom of a sock heel, you shape the rest of the shawl.  This causes it to curve and ultimately you have a shawl! I&#8217;d like to use the technique again with a different edging.<\/p>\n<p>I soaked and blocked it last night:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Annis by Pynnski, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pynnski\/4690750745\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4027\/4690750745_f6493ff84b.jpg\" alt=\"Annis\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And it was already dry this morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Annis by Pynnski, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/pynnski\/4690750953\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4070\/4690750953_f5f49888d7.jpg\" alt=\"Annis\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used Knitpicks Gloss Lace in the (discontinued) Mermaid color.  I still have quite a bit left of the skein and another whole skein, which can be used for another shawl of some sort. I&#8217;ve never used lace weight before and let me tell you: This shawl weighs approximately nothing. It&#8217;s fascinating.<\/p>\n<p>So, yay, I finished something.\u00a0 This year hasn&#8217;t been much in the way of FOs, though I did knit two sweaters, so that has surely got to count for something.<\/p>\n<p>Also considering my current lack-of-employment I really don&#8217;t have much in the way of excuses at this point!
