I recently started following a blog by the talented Lorelei Eurto – I have seen her designs in various beading magazines and I really like her blog! I first started reading her around the time of her first Michaels challenge and knew that I would want to participate if another one came around. You can click here to see what was required.
So one did come up and I went to Michael’s to pick up what I could from the bead selections. I could only find the faceted mother-of-pearl, the peacock pearls, and the gun-metal chain. You could add two more types of beads from stash and a focal.
I knew I wanted to make a multi-strand necklace, so to start I doubled up the chain for a solid support along the neck.
For the focal I chose my raven bead from Green Girl Studios. I’m kicking myself a little because I SO should have gotten a matching one at the bead show last month so the necklace would be symmetrical! I know asymmetry is fashionable right now, but it’s tricky compositionally.
Since I did only have the one raven bead, I wanted to even out the balance of the necklace and chose some smoky gray Czech glass I picked up at U Bead It in Sacramento a while ago:
That was fun! I wish I’d been able to find the black rock beads, those were particularly neat. (Incidentally, I either need to start taking pictures during the day, or possibly get a new camera, sigh. It might actually be time for the camera. Hmpf.)
To see the other participants, please see the following links. I can’t wait to see what everyone else has made!

Wow. You did a fabulous job making the beads seem so airy and feminine! Simply divine!
You did a nice job balancing the raven bead with the Czech glass. I hear you about photography. It’s very dark and gloomy much of the time where I live so I ended up investing in a light box so I could take pictures anytime, even at night. Very pretty necklace!
You did a very nice job! The photography thing is tricky, but I think your piece still showed up very nicely! Love the bird bead!
Ohhhh so pretty! I love the femininity of this piece, and that’s one of my favorite Green Girl Studios beads- very cool how you showcased it at one side. PRETTY!
I really like what you did with the beads. Your piece is very soft and feminine! It’s gorgeous!
Sooooo pretty – I used a Green Girl piece too! Loving that focal bead – you did a great job!
Lovely! The raven bead is a great touch!
Gorgeous necklace, love the raven and the sparkle 🙂
