Beads and Yarn… it’s always beads and yarn.

DUDES!

At Joann’s they are having a mighty mighty clearance! On some of the stranded beads that hang on the wall! I mentioned this previously, but now I must show you the bounty that I purchased for a mere MERE $7.56:

Sale Beads

Um, hello $50 worth of beads? Hellooooo. I do like a good clearance. You can find this rack up by the magazines in the front. From left to right is pink resin, red resin, turquoise resin, black painted wood, green resin, wood, and glass.

What will I make with this? I do not know! But I have been wanting a lot of the black wood for months. I didn’t know they were going to clearance it. I used all my other ones for a Christmas present (sob).

Also at the Beverly’s they have the new Lion Brand sock yarn, Sock Ease:

Lion Brand Sock Ease

I know, I know, I don’t need more sock yarn. But so what. I liked all the other colors too and I refrained from buying them, so that shows some small semblance of restraint, yes? Yes?

They do not have the Sock Ease at Joann’s or Michael’s. I know this because I looked. I do these things for you.

Okay, I don’t, I do them for me.

And finally, fun with Photoshop!:

In Vitro

I amuse myself in many ways.

Tomorrow: Thai Food! The Big Ross in San Francisco! And! DSW!

The fun never stops around here. Oh by the way, I am two weeks off carbs and I officially do not miss them.

Say it with me now:

WTF.

I KNOW, right? I personally never thought I would see the day. But I have been feeling a lot better and I don’t even WANT bread or tortillas or noodles or whatever… I just want half a spaghetti squash and chicken.

Let me say it again: WTF.

While bizarre, this is a good thing! I’ve been looking forward to having carbs again, only to realize that I don’t really want them. Was my two weeks of cleansing successful? Could very well be! Now I am afraid of rice, nice.

Remind me not to post when I am all tired because it is like drunk posting apparently. No cabazáns here! (they have carbs.)

An Amazonian Triumph

So I was at the library today trying to find one of my favorite books as a kid, Bella by Anne and Edward Syfret. It is about an evil doll and two friends during World War II ish. It’s much more clever than that description, and I just loved it, and have read it multiple times even as an adult.

Despite heroic effort on the part of two children’s librarians, today I discovered that the library has GOTTEN RID OF MY PRECIOUS BOOK. NOOOOO.

As an admitted bookaholic, anytime the library gets rid of books, even if they suck, a part of me dies a little inside. I love books. I looooove books. If Bella, an awesome little book that is much more sophisticated than a lot of contemporary children’s books, is doomed, what does that say about Sue Barton, Student Nurse?? My heart it doth break should more classics be relegated to the trash.

So I went on Amazon and bought the book, a sturdy library version, even, for $1.50. The shipping cost more than the book. And when it arrives, it ushers in a new era: The Melissa Buying Every Children’s Book She Has Ever Liked Era.

It was bound to happen.

New Bling

I’ve been beading a bit lately, and here are some new pieces:

Jewelry Mosaic

Birds and bees, mmmm hmmm.

JoAnn’s has a bunch of vintage style things right now, and I picked up that pretty bird in the left hand corner at the Green Girl Studios booth at the BABE show a few weeks ago. I’ve really been into gold lately and I love the owl necklace a lot.

It occurs to me that my big bead mess is still in the back bedroom… I just shut the door on it a week ago. Haha! Hoo. Anyway, I wanted to make some stuff this weekend so that will be nice.
